About The Event
Join us at the Friendship Park in Queens Garden for an afternoon of reflection and community, as we celebrate hope, harmony and community at the Bunbury Garden Labyrinth.
The afternoon offers an array of Japanese themed activities - making koi kites, listening to Japanese music, trying on kimonos, lolly drops from Kite Kinetics, a smoke ceremony, and painting/decorating your lanterns in the spring sunshine.Â
Â
The lanterns will be launched into the inlet at sunset.Â
We cannot guarantee a specific time for launching. Please be in the area with your lanterns close to the estimated time of sunset. Our SWJF team will round everybody up together for a ceremonial walk through the Labrinth to the estuary.Â
Attendance to this festival is free however lanterns muse be purchased in advance via the ticket link attached.
NOTE: Our lanterns are environmentally friendly and will be collected once the ceremony ends.

🌸 NOTES: 🌸
1. This year we are offering the choice to purchase a lantern to float, or a lantern to take home. Lanterns to take home come with a small wooden base to place a tea light candle in. Please make sure you select the correct option for you when booking.
2. We cannot guarantee there will be extra lanterns on the day. Please book online before September 5 to secure your lanterns.
3. We cannot provide a guaranteed time for sunset. Please be around the Queens Garden area close to when the approximated sunset time is, so you can hear our announcement, collect your dried lantern and candle, and join in on the walk.
4. If it is almost sunset and you have not picked up your booked lantern to be decorated, yours will be given to the next in line. Refunds will not be given.Â
5. This event is family friendly. No alcohol is permitted. If there is any unruly behaviour, you will be asked to leave by Festival security.Â
